The genius of the cabinetmaker:  The simple design of the base, entirely modern, is in contrast to the genius of the cabinetmaker who veneered the top. There are multiple veneers, all pie-shaped and radiating outwards from the centre, each with highly figured grain and a splendid color. Matching these all took great skill.  The result is a top that is aflame with color, grain and visual appeal.
