Rarely - very rarely - does one come across a tripod table in prefect condition: showing every evidence of antiquity, of daily usage across the centuries such as this example. The underside of the top is what shows all this, beautifully oxidized and with evidence of many hands gripping it over the years. The solid top has that unique mahogany, with a grain which one sees in late 18th-century furniture alone, and nowhere else. A plain top with a carved base: the stem is perfectly formed and the triple splayed legs are well-carved and have their original surface - thus exhibiting all the elements one wants to have in old English furniture:

                an untouched surface condition and good colour.
